Description
The CONCERTO project aims to integrate eco-friendly trajectories into daily operations to reduce CO2 and non-CO2 emissions in aviation. The project focuses on two key solutions to optimise environmental performance:
- Orchestrator for Eco-Friendly Operations: this solution helps Flow Managers detect eco-friendly time slots for flights in En-Route and Terminal Manoeuvring Areas. It assists in managing operational constraints, optimising flight paths, and improving information exchange between Air Traffic Control and Airspace Users during pre-tactical and tactical phases. It aims to validate the operational process at both local and network levels.
- Traffic Flow Optimis r based on total climate impact : this solution optimises traffic flows by considering CO2, non-CO2 emissions, and ATC capacity. It forecasts climate-sensitive areas (ECHO areas) and enables ATC and airlines to take action to minimise environmental impact. The solution provides tools to estimate, detect, mitigate, and verify climate impacts for individual flight paths and overall traffic flows. It aims to integrate non-CO2 performance indicators into flight planning and optimise traffic flows using enhanced collaborative decision-making.
CONCERTO involves 23 partners and is part of the EU Aviation Green Deal Flagship. The project aims to demonstrate that eco-friendly trajectories and climate mitigation measures can be progressively implemented at the network level, with ongoing scientific advancements.
