SIDs 2017 - AUTOPACE Workshop
The AUTOPACE Final Workshop will take place on November 27th at the University of Belgrade (Belgrade, Serbia) from 14:00 to 18:00 (day before the 7th SESAR Innovation Days Opening).
AUTOPACE is a project (Grant 699238) funded by the SESAR Joint Undertaking as part of SESAR 2020 Exploratory Research Programme within the framework of the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
Based on established psychological attentional theories, AUTOPACE aims at researching a psychological model to predict the effects of automation on Air Traffic Controller (ATCo) performance and hence supporting further new ATCo training strategies and system design to mitigate potential adverse safety effects of automation.
The workshop’s main objective is to identify the most valuable research areas to pave the way to a high automation environment where human and automation will live together. For that purpose we would like to share with you the promising achievements obtained so far, such as:
- what the key challenges are to progress from the current concept and technological level to foreseeable automation scenarios (2050 horizon) in terms of roles and responsibilities with the new system-human function allocation;
- what the performance drawbacks are due to the risk of the “out of the loop” and “fear of automation” effects whose consequences are especially severe in case of automation failure;
- how the ATCo cognitive system structure changes with automation as the future ATCo shall focus his/her cognitive effort in mainly comprehension and projection processes;
- how new ATCo competences and training strategies address technical and psychological aspects to mitigate the hazards identified in highly automated environments.
We are kindly inviting you to participate at this workshop and take active part in it.
Due to capacity restrictions, we would need your conformation by November 17th.
Please contact Patricia López, coordinator of the project, (firstname.lastname@example.org) in case you need further information or just to accept this invitation.
