SESAR’s Research Network HALA! invites you to the  fourth HALA! Summer School. The theme of this year’s school is “Integration of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) in ATM Operations”. The school will take place at La Granja de San Ildefonso in Spain from 14 to 17 July 2014. The summer school acts as a platform for the exchanging ideas and updating the knowledge of both PhD candidates and researchers regarding ATM automation in Europe and beyond.

This year’s HALA! Summer School aims to explore possible future scenarios for RPAS integration in controlled airspace. The course will begin with introducing the important features of the current and future ATM system, followed by an analysis of RPAS operations. The course will then evolve and provide analysis of the different technological and operational enablers necessary for RPAS integration, therefore, offering students the opportunity to address the potential challenges and constraints that may arise in the process of integrating RPAS into the ATM system.

During the course, students will take part in practical exercises that will lead them to design a future scenario for RPAS integration in the ATM system, including all the topics discussed during the course and including air traffic operational conditions.

RPAS integration projects currently being developed by SESAR and other organisations will be presented throughout the HALA Summer School. Speakers from different organisations including the SESAR Joint Undertaking, EUROCONTROL, industry and academia will present their RPAS research activities.

The course will be given in English and is open for the participation of European PhD students.

The cost of the four-day course, including accommodation and lunch is 460 euros per person.

The number of places is limited, so if you are interested in joining the HALA! Summer School, please fill the following form: http://www.hala-sesar.net/hala-summer-school-2014-0 and send it to hala@hala-sesar.net before 15 June. Results will be announced the following week.
