In its session of 10 May, the European Parliament (EP) approved the SESAR Joint Undertaking’s 2010 budget spending, under the EU's annual budget discharge procedure. In its official report, the European Parliament drew “attention to the sound management of financial resources and emphasises the importance of the Joint Undertaking to the Single European Sky”. It further acknowledged that the intermediate evaluation of the SESAR JU by the European Commission in 2010 underlined “the ability of the Joint Undertaking to provide an optimal response to the needs of the airspace users and service providers”. By granting a discharge to an institution or agency, the European Parliament declares that it has spent its budget in line with EU rules.
