40% of Europe's air navigation service providers and over 6,000 aircraft are data link enabled by Airtel ATN software. the company aims to enable the improvement of air traffic management for safer, cleaner and more efficient air travel globally.

What is the added value of being a member of the SESAR 3 JU?

Being a member of SESAR 3 allows us to contribute to the SESAR Master Plan and work together with industry stakeholders, NSPs, airlines, and all our customers. It's a great opportunity for us.

Why is air traffic management and its digital transformation important to Airtel?

At Airtel our focus is on Datalink for Air Traffic Management. We aim to achieve efficient flights and the most effective communication between controllers and pilots. Our goal is to create shorter flight routes, leading to a greener economy and reduced CO2 emissions.

What are Airtel’s top three innovation priorities?

Right now our top three innovation priorities within SESAR:

  1. Increasing communication capacity through satellite networks and interconnected air traffic management.
  2. Establishing a common ADS (Automatic Dependent Surveillance) service for collecting and sharing 4D trajectories with ground NSPs.
  3. Utilising the same 4D trajectories for trajectory-based operations and sharing them with airlines and aerospace users.

In which flagships of the Digital European Sky programme is Airtel particularly interested in getting involved, and why?

We are interested in two flagships within the programme:

  1. Connected and Automated ATM - Here our focus is on creating a collaborative environment with a single source of shared information among NSPs.
  2.  Capacity on Demand and Dynamic Airspace - here  we emphasise increasing link capacity through multiple sub-links which is critical for ATM. It is also important to be able to down link providing controllers with clear and up-to-date aircraft trajectories for generating dynamic airspace.
