The project aims to develop an integrated risk model linking the operations of unmanned aircraft (UAS) with some negative effects they may have with regard safety, security, privacy and environment. This risk model is intended to support the airspace risk assessments required by U-space European regulation as well as an amendment to SORA methodology so that risk can be quantitatively estimated, enabling digital implementations leading to swifter operational approval processes.
To achieve its objectives, U-AGREE is following these key steps:
1. Identifying realistic scenarios where UAS operations take place and all potential hazards these operations may pose to safety, security, privacy, and the environment.
2. Assessing metrics and thresholds, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders such as civil aviation authorities and common information service providers, to measure risks associated with identified hazards.
3. Developing mathematical models that connect hazards to their effects, define mitigation barriers and quantify the effectiveness of these barriers in reducing risk.
4. Evaluating the model’s applicability and effectiveness by integrating the risk model into the scenarios identified earlier in the project.
This approach ensures that U-AGREE delivers a robust framework for safe, secure, and sustainable UAS operations while supporting compliance with EU regulations.
