The goal of the AWARE project is to enable human-machine collaboration through an artificial situational awareness system that allows AI to anticipate and respond to human needs by understanding human intent and goals. While humans are well-trained to understand the capabilities, limitations, and functionality of the machines they use, further improvements in human-machine collaboration are hindered by the lack of awareness of human intent on the machine side. The project is developing and test an AI assistant application that provides adaptable, human-centric support to enhance air traffic controller performance and reduce their workload, even in complex tasks. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the European air traffic management system.
