Electric Vertical Take Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft are a typical representative of new types of airspace users, characterized as Innovative Air Mobility (IAM), which aims to complement existing means of passengers and cargo transport addressing mostly urban and regional operations. This webinar will present the scope and approach of the SESAR project OPERA (Operate Anywhere) which aims to facilitate the initial deployment of both manned (meaning with a pilot onboard) and unmanned eVTOL operations in the current ATM environment while exploring how to overcome the main operational and technological limitations as well as how to leverage newly deployed U-space framework in near future.
SESAR JU U-space and Urban Air Mobility webinar series will provide an overview of each individual SESAR JU U-space and Urban Air Mobility project, exploring the scope, goals, and expected results, and highlighting their role in building a comprehensive, EU-wide framework for drone operations. Drones are rapidly transforming sectors like mapping, infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, and goods delivery. U-space offers the digital and automated framework needed to safely and efficiently integrate large numbers of drones into airspace, even in congested urban environments, while ensuring compatibility with manned aviation.
