TOUR 5: Skies without limits – Integrating space, high-altitude, and high-speed operations into European ATM

As aviation continues to evolve, new entrants such as space launch and re-entry vehicles, high-altitude platforms (HAPS), and supersonic, hypersonic, and suborbital aircraft are reshaping the boundaries of controlled airspace. This tour will showcase a series of pioneering initiatives aimed at preparing European ATM for this next frontier.

The tour will begin with an introduction by the European Commission, setting the political and strategic context. This will be complemented by insights from EASA on the future regulatory framework needed to safely and sustainably accommodate these new airspace users. In addition, the European Defence Agency (EDA) will share its perspective on the importance of civil-military cooperation to ensure safe, secure, and interoperable operations as the airspace becomes more dynamic and diverse.

The core of the tour will highlight SESAR research and innovation activities that are laying the operational and technological foundations for seamless, future-ready airspace integration.

Join us to explore how Europe is preparing for the skies of tomorrow.
