Handling conflicts of interest

Integrity and high standards of professional conduct by all those involved in the activities of the SESAR Joint Undertaking are crucial for the independence and reputation of the SESAR Joint Undertaking. To ensure that these standards are met, already in 2008 at the beginning of the SESAR Joint Undertaking existence, its Administrative Board adopted a decision on Confidentiality, independence and management of conflict of interest of the bodies of the SESAR Joint Undertaking defining the concept of conflict of interest and laying down the practical arrangements and proportionate measures for avoiding or managing apparent, potential and real conflict of interest. Since then, the Administrative Board revised at different occasions that decision and monitored constantly its implementation.

To this end, all participants to the bodies of the SESAR Joint Undertaking shall, upon their appointment, sign a declaration of commitment and confidentiality to declare that in the performance of their duties they will act in the general interest of the SESAR Joint Undertaking. Before attending a meeting of the Administrative Board, every Administrative Board member, participator and guest must sign a declaration of commitment and confidentiality, declaring any direct or indirect, personal or corporate interest in the outcome of the deliberations of the Administrative Board in relation to any matter on the agenda for the relevant meeting, which may improperly influence the performance of his or her duties.
