Innovative solutions for ATM Resilience

Aviation performance can be jeopardised by multiple threats arising from cyber-attacks, capacity bottlenecks, severe weather, or hazards arising from natural phenomena, e.g. volcanic eruptions.
These events have the potential to pose significant economic and safety impacts on our ATM system.

Many projects, funded by the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, are actively researching how cutting edge digital solutions, using artificial intelligence or machine learning, can build resilience in air traffic management. This webinar showcased three of the SESAR 2020 exploratory research projects aiming to ensure ATM service continuity despite disruption.

What’s on the agenda?

Machine learning and cyber security: robust protection against digital attacks (SINAPSE)
Professor Fun Hu, Head of Biomedical Electronics, University of Bradford

Capacity on-demand using explainable artificial intelligence (TAPAS)
Jose Manuel Cordero Garcia, Principal ATM Researcher, CRIDA

Early warning system for environmental and meteorological hazards (ALARM)
Manuel Soler, Director PhD Program Aerospace Engineering, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
Tatjana Bolic, Senior Research Fellow, University of Westminster

Moderated by Marouan Chida, Head of Digital Innovation, SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking
