Now in its eighth year, the SIDs have become a landmark event in the European aviation research calendar. The SIDs focus on exploratory research in the field of ATM. The event is not only a vehicle for the SESAR JU to share progress and disseminate results of its exploratory research programme but also for the wider research community to present their work.

As in previous years, the 2018 event will be shaped by scientific papers and presentations, which will be selected based on an open call for contributions, managed by the SESAR Engage network. The event will also feature a poster exhibition and a networking event, which will provide participants opportunities to learn about other interesting projects and to meet like-minded researchers.

The exhibition will open on 3 December with a cocktail ceremony. The conference itself will take place from 4-6 December. Against the background of the Austrian European Presidency, on 7 December, we will also be organising a series of site visits, to locations in the vicinity of Salzburg so that participants can see ATM Research & Innovation in action.

The event will also provide the backdrop for the 2018 SESAR Young Scientist Award ceremony, which is SESAR’s main vehicle for young scientists in the ATM domain to receive recognition and showcase their research work.
