On June 29, Airbus invited 10 main European airlines in Toulouse to participate in a Customer Focus Group, which also included the participation of SESAR JU Executive Director, Florian Guillermet, and SESAR Deployment Manager, Director Technical and Operations, Nicolas Warinsko.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to brief the airline community on SESAR 1 achievements and future SESAR 2020 cooperation opportunities such as very-large scale demonstrations, which aims to “pre-deploy” mature SESAR 1 concepts and solutions on a significant number of airline revenue flights in 2018 (more than 100 aircraft are targeted). Among the concepts will be 4D trajectory information exchange, also known as initial 4D (i4D), which will allow an increase in traffic flow predictability and efficiency.

Airlines participating in the Customer Focus Group in June expressed a strong interest in such future very large-scale demonstrations with the goal to confirm the benefits of SESAR concepts in a real operational environment.
