End of May, the Thales GBAS GAST-D ground station prototype was successfully installed at Toulouse Blagnac airport and has started transmitting augmentation signals. GAST-D allows Cat II/III approaches based on the actual GNSS configuration through augmentation information, which increases accuracy. Before installation the station successfully passed verification tests at the Thales Air Systems facility in Germany, including tests with Eurocontrol’s PEGASUS tool and interoperability tests with the Thales Multi-Mode Receiver modified to support GAST-D protocol. In the next months, the ground station will be subject to verification and validation activities comprising various ground and flight tests conducted by DSNA/DTI and Airbus.
