SESAR Forum

Tuesday, March 6, 2012 - 14:00

SESAR is Europe’s unique and ambitious air traffic management modernisation programme. It unites all air transport actors, reaches out to its international counterparts and helps lowering the environmental impact of aviation. At ATC Global, the SESAR Joint Undertaking presents the progress made so far and gives an outlook to what will happen in 2012.

After a welcome word by Patrick Ky and introductions from representatives of SESAR’s founding members, the European Commission and Eurocontrol, Florian Guillermet will present to the audience for the first time results from the first SESAR Release before giving an outlook on what the programme has in stock for 2012. As one concrete release example, a flight test pilot from Airbus will share with the audience details of the first initial 4D flights. Thereafter, Alain Siebert from the SESAR Joint Undertaking will present results from the second AIRE cycle which involved more than 5,000 flights. Denis Koehl, Senior Advisor for Military Affairs at the SESAR Joint Undertaking will report on the progress of the ATM Master Plan update campaign. After a short break, the floor will be given to three presenters providing an outsider view on the SESAR programme: Frank de Winne, ESA Astronaut and Chairman of the SESAR Scientific Committee will speak about the need for long-term research; Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI Europe, will highlight the role of airports in the SESAR system; and a representative of the international validation team will share the team’s observations.

The SESAR Forum is free of charge and open for all. Registration is necessary and can be done through the ATC Global website (see link below). Register now as a free exhibition visitor and tick the SESAR Forum box in the registration form.
