Peter is a British national and has worked for 29 years in Engineering and Programme Management, specialising in the field of Civil and Military Air Traffic Management. This has included airports, centres, surveillance systems, data processing & display systems, project management, system engineering, research and development, system and enterprise architecture activities. He was previously Chief System Architect for NATS, the UK Air Navigation Service Provider, and has experience of the transition of this ANSP from Government agency to its current public-private partnership status, playing an active part in the company leadership team.

During his time working for the UK CAA and NATS Peter has graduated with a degree in Mathematics & Telecommunications and a post-graduate degree in Computing for Commerce & Industry.

Peter Hotham was appointed Chief Architect for SESAR on 1 June 2008. In this position, he is responsible for all the technical (Air Traffic Management) aspects of SESAR, including overall Enterprise and System Architecture as well as long-term technical research and the development of technical standards.
