Michael Standar
Michael STANDAR is the Chief Strategies and External Relations at the SESAR Joint Undertaking based in Brussels, Belgium.
Michael started of his career 1976 as an Air Traffic controller in the Swedish Air Force and joined the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority when 1978 when Sweden implemented a civ/mil integrated Air Navigation Services. He then kept his officer status in the Swedish Air force reserve.
After a number of years working as an Air Traffic Controller in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain for International Aeradio Limited he returned to Sweden and has since the mid 1980s held different posts at the Swedish CAA and ANS service Provider LFV. Michael was in the beginning of the 1990´s offered a post at the Swedish CAA headquarters, later the LFV ANS Service provider. In the HQ he was promoted first to Head units for ATM operational developments and operational support and later Head of the business area of LFV´s ATM Support & Development before taking up duties as LFV Director for ANS Business Development. Michael did during his operational career as an ATCO reach a full book of ratings for all ATC operational areas including supervision and training.
Michael was an active Swedish member of ICAO Air Traffic Management Operational Concepts panel, ATMCP developing the ICAO Global ATM Operational Concept Document which then continued into the Air Traffic Management Requirements and Performance Panel, ATMRPP
During the years in LFV he worked intensively on Nordic and North European ANSP cooperation leading to the formation of the North European ANSP Cooperation, NEAP formed 2007. He was also the LFV representative in the SESAR definition phase and held one of the three elected seats of the ANSP Stakeholder Group in the SESAR Consortium Executive Committee.
Michael was in the SJU offered the position as Chief Air Traffic Management 1st July 2011 and was promoted to Chief Strategies and External Relations from 1st of January 2012.
